We know there’s a climate emergency but what does that mean we should do? What does a ‘better future’ look like and how do we get there?

Having spent over a decade on the frontlines of climate activism — organising, campaigning, and holding the powerful to account — Tam Omond discovered first-hand that this crisis is too big for one group of activists to solve. It needs everyone.

Do Earth is about collective action and community engagement. It’s about healing our relationships with nature, each other
and ourselves; and feeling inspired about what the next phase of human evolution might be. With practical guidance and gentle encouragement, Do Earth provides a blueprint for reimagining the world and reviving our beautiful planet.

Tam’s Do Lecture

Can an individual save the world?

Tam spoke at the inaugural DO Lectures back in 2008. Drawing from their experience with ‘Plane Stupid' and role as a radical lobbyist and non-violent direct activist, they consider what transforms illegal action into legitimate world-changing events.

About the author

Since dropping banners against Heathrow Airport’s third runway from the roof of the Houses of Parliament, Tam has consistently shifted public conversation on the climate and ecological emergency. A founding member of Extinction Rebellion, they have organised (and been arrested for) a number of high-profile protests, co-founded a Suffragette-inspired environmental group called Climate Rush, formed ‘The Commons’ political party, co-ordinated (the successful) Save England’s Forests coalition, led global corporate campaigns as Head of Global Campaigns at Lush Cosmetics. And more recently, ran as leader of the Green Party. Tam is active in queer uprising, a theatre maker, and the author of RUSH! The Making of a Climate Activist (Marion Boyars, 2009).
